I know, I know...it has been a while since my last post. I actually wish I could say that I have been too busy to post. Well, I have been busy, but not enough to use as an excuse.
The kids only have 3 days of school left...we are all so very excited about that. This means I don't have to pack any more lunches for almost 3 months. I absolutely hate to pack lunches. Jared is going to start running Cross Country for 7th grade in July. I think he will do well if he stays with it. Emily will be trying out for Volleyball for the 3rd year in a row, let's pray she makes it this year. If not, God love her for her perseverance.
Larry had been laid off for a week so far. In that week, he has cut the grass...well, that's it, he has cut the grass. Okay, I'll let him off the hook since he was sick for 4 of those days. He also cut the grass at my cousins lake house too...that took him 3 hours.
I have also been sick...Larry and I both had some upper respiratory thing going on...still lingering around. So, every time I cough, I pee a little bit. I know...TMI (as my kids would say).
This weekend we are having a garage sale...I am actually sitting at it right now. Haven't been to busy today, but did well yesterday. Then, after I planned our sale, we got a flier in our paper box Wednesday that our neighborhood is having their annual garage sale next weekend. I was waiting to hear about it, but never did. So, I think I might just leave my stuff up for the week and open again next Friday...at least for one day to see how that goes.
Well, until next time, let's hope it's not so long between posts...I will be busy laying in the pool, catching some sun...anyone can come join us anytime.

A Trip to the Zoo
Today was the sixth grade field trip to the Akron Zoo. The weather was a bit rainy, but for the most part, it was a nice day. My group of kids was really well behaved. I was responsible for 10 children. 9 of which were not mine. It's hard enough for me to take care of my own children, and even harder to watch 10 of them as they run through the zoo. They were really good with staying together. Thanks, kids.
A newer student to our school, Nyjay, a boy from Baltimore, was in my group. He is such a character. He wore his cowboy boots to the zoo. He told me he and his mom are big fans of country. So, he and I were singing "These boots were made for walking" as we walked through the zoo. He is actually a good singer. I think he could be a good politician and may be our 2nd black president of the United States.
Glad this is probably the last field trip I will have to chaperon during the kids school career...why don't I just say no? Maybe it's time for another parent to take a turn.

Congratulations Emily on running your first track meet. I am proud of you, even if you aren't proud of yourself. 17:46 in the 100 is not a bad time for your first meet. You will only get better.

The Price to be Beautiful
OMG...I cringe when I have to pay $12.00 for a haircut for myself. Saturday, Emily and I went to Famous Hair, a place you think would be inexpensive, to get our hair cut. Emily also wanted to have her hair highlighted. Okay, she hasn't had it done for over a year since you went back to her original color. So I thought, what the heck, why not? Well, I'll tell you why not...it cost me $77.00. Yes, you read that right. Granted, her hair is super duper thick and she had her whole head done, but her hair is short right now. Are you kidding me? These highlights better last a long, long time! Next time we are going back to the Aveda School. Yeah, they take forever, but it is a lot cheaper.
Anyways, she looks adorable, but I still wouldn't say it was worth it.

Bats in the Cave
This weekend was full of long hours, seeing old friends and customers, doing what I love best, tons of laughter and looking for bats in the cave.
I was asked to work as a camp counselor @ the 4th annual Cord Crop Camp in Aurora. This was bitter sweet for me, but I was glad I had the opportunity to work with Amy and Stephanne again. They are such a crack up.
Seeing my old customers...with this I mean previous, was so great. It was nice to catch up with all of them and to know how much they miss the store, Jenn and I and the other girls.
Sitting Saturday night in the lobby with the rest of the camp staff was a lot of fun. We laughed until we peed. Well, maybe only I peed a bit! Margie told us about the haunted house she lives in...I would have moved out along time ago! Michelle was falling asleep at the table. I think she even walked back to her room with her eyes closed. Terri was barely awake after teaching the same class 6 times that day. The stories were fun, but spending time with everyone was even "funner". Sorry Ruthie that you missed out on all of it, but I'm glad you feel better.
One of the funniest things that happened this weekend was when Amy walked up to me when I was getting ready to do my daily demo and asked me if she had any bats in the cave. I laughed so hard...I almost peed again. (she wanted to know since she just blew her nose if there was anything left in there). I had never heard that before.
One of the issues this weekend was the customers from the NE Ohio stores that had been closed. Amy was concerned for them, that they don't have a store to shop at any more and wanted to reassure them that they were welcome and we were glad that they came to camp. As Amy put it, she wanted to address the "elephant in the room". I told her to stop talking about me like that!
All in all, we had a great time. I am glad I decided to take Amy up on her offer to work and get paid "a dollar a pound"...in which I was paid way too much since I don't weigh that much. I am glad I met new friends from Cord that I hope to see again when I come with my friends from here to scrapbook with them down in Columbus.

Track Shoes and Crutches
On Monday, Emily came home and told me that she needed track shoes with spikes to run track. Okay, for one thing, like she really needs a new pair of shoes, and another, it's just something that is a bit much for our budget since I am not working and Larry is laid off every other week.
On Tuesday, she told me that there was a mandatory meeting that night for all spring sports. She knew the week before, but forgot to tell me. So, we go to the meeting, then we went to buy her track shoes. Well, she found a pair that wasn't too high in price. They were $60.00. I told her she had to run and run fast if I was going to buy these shoes.
On Thursday, Emily came home and could not put any weight on her right foot. Oh, great...first thing I thought of was there goes my $60.00. Then quickly after that, I asked her what happened. She was running sprints and heard a "pop" in the front of her ankle. OUCH! She was in a lot of pain, and at 9:15 p.m. she still couldn't put any weight on it. So, I took her to the ER. I was afraid it might be fractured. Well, it's not, just a bad sprain. Sometimes a sprain can be worse than a break.
So, she is now on crutches for a week or until she can put weight on it. She is afraid to try, so this might take awhile. She is determined to start running track again as soon as she is able to. She even said she is going to "work extra hard" when she gets back. Good for you Emily!
See you at the meets...

Updates
This week was full of fun and adventure...well for me at least...being unemployed means doing anything out of the house is fun and adventurous.
Emily started conditioning for track on Tuesday. She was a little sore, but not to bad she said. They ran a lap around the track on Thursday, and she came in last out of about 45 girls. She was fine with that...not having run track last year, she was glad to have made it at all. She will improve as time goes on.
Thursday, NYAJ and I went to a scrapbook store in Alliance in the Carnation Mall called "Scrapbooks by Lisa". I have been there before, but this was Jenns first time. I think its a nice store...a lot to choose from. And since we have no other stores in our area, there is nothing else to choose from. We then went to lunch at Applebee's and had a delicious lunch and chocolate desert. After, I remembered there was a store in Louisville, not far from where we were. It is called Memory Manor. It is a very small store with a lot of stuff in it. There is a nice selection of clearance paper there. I would go back, but not make a special trip there.
Today, I met my friend Linda for lunch at Antone's for their lunch buffet. Being Friday and during lent, it was a fish buffet. OMG, the food was so good. Linda was sharing some of her unused paper storage containers and some ribbon, so I got them from her there. Thanks Linda for sharing. NYAJ and I really appreciate you thinking about us.
So, that was my exciting week in a nutshell. And, Larry was off all week, and we didn't do anything! Well, he did take me for ice cream today after I got back from lunch. Mmmmm!
Tomorrow we are off to Cleveland to see the Cavs game. Larry got tickets for Christmas, and Jared is taking his friend JD. We always enjoy a good Cavs game. I will let you know how it goes.
Until then...

Pop Up Her Nose
So, today Larry, Emily and I were eating pizza, wings and salad from Alfredo's and Emily was having fries and a chocolate frosty from Wendy's...she dips her fries in her frosty! (Jared was down his friend Brian's house). Anyway, Emily asked her dad if she could have a sip of his Mt. Dew...usually a sip to her is a super large gulp, so as soon as she put the bottle up to her mouth, both Larry and I both yelled (jokingly) "that's enough". Well, that's when it happened, Emily started laughing and she got Mt. Dew up her nose. We all know how that feels, YUCK. This was her first experience of having pop up her nose. We laughed so hard as it was running our of her nose. At least her sinus' are now clear!

Meetings, Breakfast and Slumdog
For being unemployed, I sure did have a busy week this week. Monday night I attended the Founder's Day dinner for PTA. It was @ the Fifth Season banquet center, and the food was delicious. The best part was the PTA mom who came dressed in a corset and short, and I mean short, netty kind of skirt. I really felt under dressed. And, she sat right next to the principal. I wondered why he didn't stand up all night.
Then on Tuesday, Emily and I had a meeting for Freshman scheduling. I cannot believe she is going to be a freshman already. She is taking a packed schedule, including honors social studies. She is really excited, and I am really NOT.
Wednesday afternoon brought another PTA meeting, this time for the Arts and Science Fair to be held in April.
Thursday, I picked up my Aunt Diana and went to breakfast and to the bookstore to find another good book to read. She recently lost my uncle, but she has been keeping herself busy. I was lucky to get a few hours of her time! It was nice to spend time with her.
Thursday night, I had a meeting at the kids school for the Ohio Achievement Testing to be held in April. I thought I could get a few tips for Jared to have a little bit of an easier time testing so maybe he will be able to pass this year. I did get some really good websites that he can do some practice tests on. If anyone needs them, just let me know.
Today was the last of the busy week. I babysat little Emma for awhile, then Larry, Emily and I went for fish. I don't know why I love fish so much more during Lent. It was really good too.
After dinner, my neighbor Barb and I went to the movies to see Slumdog Millionaire. It was so good. Now I know why it has received so many awards. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to go.
Tomorrow I am meeting up with NotYourAverageJenn in town at the bookstore to hang out for a little bit. It is one of our favorite places to go. We both love to read and exchange books with each other. She is also lending me her camera so I can take pictures at Frank Ohl Intermediate School next week for their talent show. And my kids don't even go to that school anymore. Some day I will learn at say NO.

Too Much Chocolate
So Valentine's Day came and went. I had a nice day with Larry, Jared, Emily and Emily's friend, Kelly. We all had lunch at Applebee's, then off to Barnes and Nobel we were. The kids all got books they were wanting. Then we were off to the mall. Emily wanted to go to Hot Topic to get a hoodie...whatever. It actually is nice. When we got home, I gave the kids their Valentine's Day presents from Larry and I. We don't get them much, just something little and a box of candy.
So, that leads me to my next story. We were upstairs watching Nights in Rodanthe when the dog disappeared. This is really unusual for him, as he is usually attached to my side wherever I am. So, we called for him and he came running from the basement. He laid with us for awhile and watched the movie, then he disappeared again. He came again when we called him.
Around 10pm, Jared went down to his friend, Brian's house. When we returned at midnight, I was up in bed reading. He came running from the basement to my room to tell me that he knew where Jack was when he disappeared twice that night. Jack had smelled Jared's candy in the basement, covered with a blanket, and he ate the ENTIRE box. Yes, the entire box. The funny thing is, he actually unwrapped some of the Hershey Kiss' and miniature Reese's cups. There was foil all over the basement.
Well, I was so afraid he was going to have to go to the bathroom all night, but he didn't. But when I let him out of his crate this morning, he was so full of energy. I have never seen him like that before. He went out with Larry for the newspaper and ran and ran and ran. At first I didn't feel sorry for him when he first did it, I felt sorry for Jared because Jack ate all of his candy. Then around 1:30pm, he threw it all up. Yep, foil and all. My poor puppy. Okay, so now I feel sorry for him a little. Then around 7pm, he threw up again...more foil. I can't believe it had stayed in his system for so long. He seems fine now. I sure hope he has learned his lesson.
So, now I have to buy Jared another box of candy. This time he won't keep it under a blanket in the basement.

High School Musical...the ice tour
Troy actually took his shirt off for a brief second...I can't believe he did that in front of so many children. Sorry, Gina that you missed it. Your sneeze had really bad timing.
Anyway, the show was really good. All of the girls liked it. Emily and I and her 2 best friends, Kelly and Tiffany went along with their moms, and Jared and his "friend", Alyssa went too. Jared says he didn't really like it, but I thought it was more of a "girl" thing. He did have fun with Alyssa though.
Afterwards, we met Kelly's dad and big brother, Steven, and Larry for dinner at Quaker Steak and Lube for dinner. Today is Steven's birthday, so they came along to celebrate that. Happy Birthday Steven.
I'll post again soon...

Just do it
We had such a fun time at the Cleveland Cavaliers game Friday night. It all started like this...
Jared received a letter from school at the beginning of the year that he was invited to the Cavs game on Friday because he had raised so much money the previous school year for "Jump Rope for Heart" for the American Heart Association. (He jumped in honor of Grandma Angel and Papa.) He was going to be able to shoot on the "hardwood"...the same "hardwood" that his idol, LaBron James, plays on. They would also be announced as a group for raising the most money.
So, Larry and I ordered ourselves tickets to go with him, because I don't think my 12 year old could get there on his own!
So, we get there, Jared is put with his group and Larry and I go to the section we are aloud to watch him...8 rows off the "hardwood". About 40 minutes later, they announce the kids and here they came...all 250 of them! Yes, there were 250 children shooting hoops. They did have it well organized and the kids were in six lines around each of the hoop, with a total of 12 lines. Each child got to shoot and then go to the back of the line. They each got to shoot about 3 times. Jared of course was the first in his line, so he was one of the first to shoot. The &^%$* in front of me stood up right when Jared shot. No, I did not get that picture. But I did get the next one of him shooting. Him with 125 kids standing around him, but hey, I know it's him in that picture. (He's the one with the LeBron James shirt on about 3 feet in the air.)

He had a really fun time being down on the "hardwood".
Of course the game was alot of fun too, even though we had to move into section 227 (the really high section) to watch the game. We usually go to at least one Cavs game a year, so this part wasn't new for Jared. But we did get to see LeBron do his classic tradition that he does before each game. He does something with baby powder...throws it up in the air...not sure why, but Jared loves when he does this. They have even made a commercial of him doing it...I don't get it, but it is cool.

It was also Ben Wallace wig night, so as you went through the gate, you got your very own wig so you can look just like Ben. And yes, 90% of the viewers had it on...even Jared.
I want to thank my bestie notyouraveragejenn for letting me use her awesome camera to get such great pictures. I owe you one girl!
GO CAVS!!!

"Do you want the rest?"
Sunday afternoon my daughter, Emily, was eating a piece of delicious cherry pie. After a few minutes she said to me "do you want the rest?" I did not want it, but when I looked at her plate all she had on it was the end of the crust. She was dead serious when she asked me. What the heck was she thinking, why would I want just the crust of this delicious pie. So, Emily, if you really wanted to share your pie, you should have asked me when there was still some actual cherries left in it.
No, but thanks anyways.
