Time Well Spent

Last weekend was my time away with my besties and my favorite cousins. We went to A Crop for All Seasons...a scrapbook retreat at a bed and breakfast in Norwalk, Ohio. The facility was very nice...a bit warm, but very pretty. And the food...OH MY GOSH...absolutely to die for. We ate so good, the food was so delicious. If I could have one thing in life, (besides more money), I would want someone to cook for me and my family the way we ate last weekend.

It was nice to spend time with everyone again...even though I didn't get to sit next to Emily. The laughter was abundant, and the scrapbooking was plentiful. I did get a lot done. It's always worth going away just to get stuff caught up on.

Can't wait to do it again!

Practical Joke

A few weeks ago I went with several other girls to a conference for Ohio PTA in Columbus. The conference itself was, well, just okay. The two seminars that I attended were informative. The company I was with was fun. I really enjoyed their company.

Kelly Jo Howdyshell Phillips tried to play a practical joke on Lisa, Donna and I. Long story short, her and Amy threw towels out their window (the first one being accidental)...when they went to go down to get them, we threw water on them...they had a maintenance man with them and he got wet. I know, sounds like spring break all over again! So, Kelly paid him to come to our room to tell us that all of us had to leave the hotel...we were getting kicked out. Well, I didn't believe her from the start, but Lisa started packing, especially when she looked out the hall and all of them had their luggage in the hall ready to go. I still wasn't packing. Anyways, I was right, Kelly was playing a joke on us. I did get a set of salt and pepper shakers (stolen from a room service tray) from Kelly as a peace offering. Thanks Kelly, I do like them!

All in all, we had a great time. But next year I'm staying on another floor!

Until next time...

A Busy Week Ahead

How did I ever have time to work? This week is so busy for me, if I did still work, I would have to take vacation to get everything done.

Today, I have a meeting with all of Jared's teachers and principal to see what we can do to get him the help he needs to survive the rest of his school career. He is getting very frustrated with things that he is giving up. Then, I have to go back to the school to pick Jared up for an orthodontist appointment. Then, back to the school for a third time to pick Emily up from track practice @4:45pm. Tomorrow, I have meetings all afternoon for PTA. Wednesday, Emily and I go to the dentist in the morning.

In the meantime, I have to finish samples for this weekend. I am working @ a big scrapbook getaway for Cord...the company that I used to work for. So, Amy asked me to do samples to help sell a product and also to demo alcohol ink. First, I have never used it, so I watched videos and had my friend, Linda show me how to use it. It really is easy, but i think the chemicals have affected my allergies, because now I feel like I am getting sick. I really don't have time to get sick.

I truly am looking forward to this weekend. 3 days of fun! Well, actually, a lot of work and long hours mixed with some fun. I am really excited to work with Amy and Stephanne too! I haven't seen them for so long.

Well, off to the showers...I probably won't have time to post again this week since I leave Friday morning, so I will update you all about my weekend when I get back and catch up on some sleep.

Until then...

Cavaliers Game

Saturday March 7th brought us another day at the Cavaliers game. Larry, Jared, his friend JD and I went to the game. The game was really good...never once were the Cavs behind in the game. The boys really had a good time. Even though they had a guy next to them...he was probably in his late 20's who was trying to fix them up with some girls in the next section that were a bit to old for them. This guy...he had a bit to drink, but he was really nice to the boys. He talked to them about sports and school and the game. They pretty much missed the entire 3rd quarter of the game talking to him. At the end of the game, his wife was really apologetic for him, but he truly was fine. (and good looking too!)
Here are a few pictures from the game...
This is the actual view from our seats. We were 3 rows from the top of the arena. I did not know that's how high they were when we got the tickets. We have never sat that high. And let me tell you, I was a bit afraid when I had to walk down the steps. Jared said he thought they were the best seats because he was able to see everything from above. That is what it felt like, we were sitting above the court. Maybe next time we will get seats on the jumbo-tron. I think they can actually fit a few chairs up there.

A few pictures of Jared and JD...

They bought matching hats and foam fingers.

The boys laughed the whole way home...it is always fun to listen to kids in the back of the car when they are talking and goofing around. It probably didn't help that we stopped half way home and they got a bottle of orange crush and a candy bar. Just what they needed...more sugar.
Until next time...

Updates

This week was full of fun and adventure...well for me at least...being unemployed means doing anything out of the house is fun and adventurous.

Emily started conditioning for track on Tuesday. She was a little sore, but not to bad she said. They ran a lap around the track on Thursday, and she came in last out of about 45 girls. She was fine with that...not having run track last year, she was glad to have made it at all. She will improve as time goes on.

Thursday, NYAJ and I went to a scrapbook store in Alliance in the Carnation Mall called "Scrapbooks by Lisa". I have been there before, but this was Jenns first time. I think its a nice store...a lot to choose from. And since we have no other stores in our area, there is nothing else to choose from. We then went to lunch at Applebee's and had a delicious lunch and chocolate desert. After, I remembered there was a store in Louisville, not far from where we were. It is called Memory Manor. It is a very small store with a lot of stuff in it. There is a nice selection of clearance paper there. I would go back, but not make a special trip there.

Today, I met my friend Linda for lunch at Antone's for their lunch buffet. Being Friday and during lent, it was a fish buffet. OMG, the food was so good. Linda was sharing some of her unused paper storage containers and some ribbon, so I got them from her there. Thanks Linda for sharing. NYAJ and I really appreciate you thinking about us.

So, that was my exciting week in a nutshell. And, Larry was off all week, and we didn't do anything! Well, he did take me for ice cream today after I got back from lunch. Mmmmm!

Tomorrow we are off to Cleveland to see the Cavs game. Larry got tickets for Christmas, and Jared is taking his friend JD. We always enjoy a good Cavs game. I will let you know how it goes.

Until then...

All of the Rumors

So, as many of you know, General Motors is laying of even more employees in April. Our plant in Lordstown is going down to one shift. Larry still isn't sure if he is safe. They haven't announced the "cut off" date. Meaning, if you were hired by a certain date, you will probably be safe. Larry's hire date is 3.30.95. All we are doing now is praying that he will continue to work. I can't imagine things getting any worse than they are right now. He did go back to work this week (a week before all of the other people on the line). He is a coordinator and they are supposed to be reconfiguring the line and combining jobs, but yesterday, he said they did absolutely nothing. Way to go GM...pay them to just stand around and do nothing when you are trying to save money. Sounds like a swell idea to me!

On another note, I started babysitting for my friend Kelli yesterday. I will continue to do so 1 or 2 days a week. Her baby, Emma is 5 months old. She is so stinkin' cute. And such a good baby.

I also go this Thursday for my federal and state background check so I can be a para-professional sub in the Austintown School system. Once I am approved by the board, I can sub as an aid or even in the cafeteria at any of our schools. I am hoping I can work a few days a week.

I also wanted to congratulate AbsolutelyFelicious for getting her new job at Lake County Children and Family Services (I hope that is right). Her first day was yesterday. I hope it went well being the "new girl", and I hope you didn't have to eat lunch in your car or by yourself!

Well, keep us in your prayers.

Until next time...(and I hope it's with good news)

Well, that sucks

Yes, it really does suck! Today, NYAJ, absolutelyfelicious, my cousin Emily and I were supposed to go to Archivers in Fairlawn to scrapbook for the day. Well, it was canceled due to the snow that has piled up since yesterday. Actually, they closed the store @ 1pm due to the weather. On Friday, we were all still planning on going, because we never get the amount of snow that they say we are going to get, well, this time, I think we got more. And according to The Weather Channel on my iPod touch, we are having a winter weather warning!

So, now my goal for today is to upload all of my recent pictures to Shutterfly and scrapbook the rest of the day. It is now 2:39pm and I haven't even started. That is typical for my day. I did start making homemade chicken noodle soup though.

Emily and her friends, Sami and Megan were outside for awhile and played in the snow and even took a walk in the woods up to the park and back. It is actually a beautiful day out...if you don't have to drive in it. Larry did have to go to his parents and bring in wood from the garage for them and he said even the main roads are bad...and he loves to drive in the snow.

Well, off to get something done....

Friends and Scrapbooking

So, my friend AbsolutelyFelicious asked me and Notyouraveragejenn to go to Archiver's on Saturday to go scrapbooking. I thought it would be a great idea to get together since we don't get too see each other much anymore. I met NYAJ near my house so she wouldn't have to drive all the way and it would shorten her trip home as well. We stopped for Starbucks before we got on the highway for our 45 minute venture. The ride there was uneventful...but with nice conversation.

When we got to Archiver's, that's when it all began...right off the bat, we wanted to go to lunch. Felicious' friend, and now our friend too, Motheroftriplets, was there. Of course none of us wanted to pick where to eat, so MOT picked Olive Garden...YUM! I haven't been there in like forever, because Larry doesn't really like it there. We had a really nice server and NYAJ told him that I had too much Starbucks on the way down, that I was hyper. What did she mean? I am always that funny!! Anyways, he was good to us. He brought Felicious an entire cup of lemons for her water, lots of warm breadsticks and extra mints. But when I asked him for more mints, he flat out said "no". I didn't leave him the extra money I had promised him if he brought a lot of lemons...no extra mints, no extra tip!

After lunch we went back to scrapbook. I didn't get much done. I got Emily's 2007 Christmas dance recital album started and I almost finished this years halloween page for her. Speaking of halloween layouts...OMG...NYAJ was working on one for her son and she used the most horrible purple paper. They always want you to be honest, and when you tell them the truth, you get the look of death. Sorry, NYAJ, but it was ugly. They layout was really cute, just not the background paper. There were also a few other practical jokes played (on NYAJ), but she was a good sport.

Well, we had a really fun time together. We laughed more than we scrapped. Can't wait to do it again...hopefully next month.
