Such a Busy Life

I know, I know...it has been a while since my last post. I actually wish I could say that I have been too busy to post. Well, I have been busy, but not enough to use as an excuse.

The kids only have 3 days of school left...we are all so very excited about that. This means I don't have to pack any more lunches for almost 3 months. I absolutely hate to pack lunches. Jared is going to start running Cross Country for 7th grade in July. I think he will do well if he stays with it. Emily will be trying out for Volleyball for the 3rd year in a row, let's pray she makes it this year. If not, God love her for her perseverance.

Larry had been laid off for a week so far. In that week, he has cut the grass...well, that's it, he has cut the grass. Okay, I'll let him off the hook since he was sick for 4 of those days. He also cut the grass at my cousins lake house too...that took him 3 hours.

I have also been sick...Larry and I both had some upper respiratory thing going on...still lingering around. So, every time I cough, I pee a little bit. I know...TMI (as my kids would say).

This weekend we are having a garage sale...I am actually sitting at it right now. Haven't been to busy today, but did well yesterday. Then, after I planned our sale, we got a flier in our paper box Wednesday that our neighborhood is having their annual garage sale next weekend. I was waiting to hear about it, but never did. So, I think I might just leave my stuff up for the week and open again next Friday...at least for one day to see how that goes.

Well, until next time, let's hope it's not so long between posts...I will be busy laying in the pool, catching some sun...anyone can come join us anytime.

So much for a safe internet...

Well, I guess we all want to say it will never happen to us. Well, now it has happened to me. Last month there was a charge on my Citi Mastercard bill from United for $672.70...then 2 days later there was a credit from United for the same amount. I should have called then, but didn't because it was credited. Then today, I go online to check out my statement activity and there was over $300.00 in unauthorized charges. WTF! I called and cancelled my card. They are going to send me a form to fill out to send back with my next statement so I can dispute these charges. I have a feeling I have a long road ahead of me until this is all taken care of. Shoot me now...like I need anymore financial worry!

Wish me luck...

A Trip to the Zoo

Today was the sixth grade field trip to the Akron Zoo. The weather was a bit rainy, but for the most part, it was a nice day. My group of kids was really well behaved. I was responsible for 10 children. 9 of which were not mine. It's hard enough for me to take care of my own children, and even harder to watch 10 of them as they run through the zoo. They were really good with staying together. Thanks, kids.

A newer student to our school, Nyjay, a boy from Baltimore, was in my group. He is such a character. He wore his cowboy boots to the zoo. He told me he and his mom are big fans of country. So, he and I were singing "These boots were made for walking" as we walked through the zoo. He is actually a good singer. I think he could be a good politician and may be our 2nd black president of the United States.

Glad this is probably the last field trip I will have to chaperon during the kids school career...why don't I just say no? Maybe it's time for another parent to take a turn.

Soon...

17:46

Congratulations Emily on running your first track meet. I am proud of you, even if you aren't proud of yourself. 17:46 in the 100 is not a bad time for your first meet. You will only get better.

Time Well Spent

Last weekend was my time away with my besties and my favorite cousins. We went to A Crop for All Seasons...a scrapbook retreat at a bed and breakfast in Norwalk, Ohio. The facility was very nice...a bit warm, but very pretty. And the food...OH MY GOSH...absolutely to die for. We ate so good, the food was so delicious. If I could have one thing in life, (besides more money), I would want someone to cook for me and my family the way we ate last weekend.

It was nice to spend time with everyone again...even though I didn't get to sit next to Emily. The laughter was abundant, and the scrapbooking was plentiful. I did get a lot done. It's always worth going away just to get stuff caught up on.

Can't wait to do it again!

Practical Joke

A few weeks ago I went with several other girls to a conference for Ohio PTA in Columbus. The conference itself was, well, just okay. The two seminars that I attended were informative. The company I was with was fun. I really enjoyed their company.

Kelly Jo Howdyshell Phillips tried to play a practical joke on Lisa, Donna and I. Long story short, her and Amy threw towels out their window (the first one being accidental)...when they went to go down to get them, we threw water on them...they had a maintenance man with them and he got wet. I know, sounds like spring break all over again! So, Kelly paid him to come to our room to tell us that all of us had to leave the hotel...we were getting kicked out. Well, I didn't believe her from the start, but Lisa started packing, especially when she looked out the hall and all of them had their luggage in the hall ready to go. I still wasn't packing. Anyways, I was right, Kelly was playing a joke on us. I did get a set of salt and pepper shakers (stolen from a room service tray) from Kelly as a peace offering. Thanks Kelly, I do like them!

All in all, we had a great time. But next year I'm staying on another floor!

Until next time...

Pretty Flowers

Pretty flowers, but the vase has a lot to be desired! Larry brought me these daffodils from his parents house when he was there this week. He usually cuts me some every year from their yard. He didn't have anything to put them in, so he put them in this really nice Campbell's Tomato Soup can. Actually, I thought it was really clever. I was just happy he thought of me and brought me flowers.
